- Being well equipped is essential when performing an experiment, that is why you should also wear: safety glasses, goggles, closed-toed shoes, and no tangling jewellery. - No food in the lab. No eating, no drinking, and no chewing gum. What if you confuse yourself and drink from a different cup? |
- No phones, No iPods, No devices at all! It can interfere with your hearing and understanding of instructions.
- Never work alone in a lab. What if something happens and no one is there to help?
- Don’t perform any procedure unless the person in charge has told you so.
- Always pay attention to your surroundings. You need to be aware of EVERYTHING.

SAVETY RULES WITH FIREPrecaution:
- Never throw a match that is lighten to the sink, they may cause a big fire by making contact with a flammable liquid poured there. - Make sure your teacher or instructor is in the lab while doing an experiment that involves fire. - Never fill a beaker that will be heated up more than 70% of its capacity (do only if your teacher tells you). SAVETY RULES WITH CHEMICALS- Always ask your teacher what chemical you should use. Never use any without permission!
- If you want to know how a chemical smells like, don't get to close to it. Waft it towards your nose! - Never pipet by mouth! You might think that there is only water in there, but you don’t know who else has used it. - Use a fume hood! It sucks all of the air so you don’t have to breath it. |

Safety with handling living organisms-Use gloves to protect your hands.
-To protect your eyes while doing an experiment use goggles. -Always have your lab coat on in the lab to protect your skin. - Never use open shoes in the lab, remember to have close shoes on. -If you have long hair be sure that it is not lose when you are in the lab. -Always have your space clean. |
- In case of fire, check for the nearest fire alarm. If someone has been burned, run for safety showers and eyewashes.
- If someone has ingested any chemical, we must contact the Poison control center. What if you live in the Dominican Republic? You die. Just kidding.- If there has been any skin contact, take clothes and jewelry off and rub the infected area with water. Also, you must go to the nurse in case of a high degree burn. - Evacuate everyone from the area if necessary - Be as quick and specific as possible. |
